Nine-year-old María is left at a recycling factory in Nicaragua by her struggling mother, joining a workforce of other children. Torn between anger and hope, María resorts to her vivid imagination in order to come to terms with her motherʼs absence and make sense of a chaotic world.
Producer
Rossana Baumeister (1985) is a Nicaraguan producer. She holds a Marketing and Advertising degree from American University, a Production Design degree from INDUSTRIA School, and participated in theatre and acting workshops for five years in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Rossana is the head of production at Felipa Films. Felipa Films started in Nicaragua as an independent audiovisual production company focused on Central American cinema. Founded by Rossana and Laura, sisters and colleagues interested in art, cinema and communication. It is a plural and international team committed to creative and cinematographic expression that moves and generates connections with the public in each project.
Director, Screenwriter
Laura Baumeister is a Nicaraguan film director and sociologist. She currently lives in México, where she studied film directing at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC). Laura has directed the following short films: ISABEL IN WINTER (2014), which was selected for the Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival; FUERZA BRUTA (PRIMAL FORCE, 2016), which received Special Mention at the Rencontres de Toulouse Film Festival (France), Best Actress at the Morelia International Film Festival, and Best Short Film at the Mérida and Yucatán Film Festival; and OMLIGO DE ÁGUA (WATER NAVEL, 2018), which had its international premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, received a special jury mention at the Morelia International Film Festival and exhibited at the Clermont Ferrand Festival in France.
Producer
Bruna Haddad is a Brazilian producer and journalist, and an executive producer at Felipa Films. Haddad lives in Mexico City, where she graduated from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, specializing in film production. In Brazil, she worked for the São Paulo IFF for five years. In Mexico, she worked with the production company Woo Films as a post-production coordinator, musical supervisor and development coordinator for projects including CÓMPRAME UN REVÓLVER (2018) by Julio Hernández Cordón and LOS ADIOSES by Natalia Beristain. She produced the short film OMBLIGO DE AGUA (2018) by Laura Baumeister, and is currently finishing Beatriz Seigner's third feature, a Brazil-Mexico co-production called ENTRE NÓS, UM SEGREDO.
