Rossana Baumeister (1985) is a Nicaraguan producer. She holds a Marketing and Advertising degree from American University, a Production Design degree from INDUSTRIA School, and participated in theatre and acting workshops for five years in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Rossana is the head of production at Felipa Films. Felipa Films started in Nicaragua as an independent audiovisual production company focused on Central American cinema. Founded by Rossana and Laura, sisters and colleagues interested in art, cinema and communication. It is a plural and international team committed to creative and cinematographic expression that moves and generates connections with the public in each project.
The short film FUERZA BRUTA (2016) premiered at the Morelia International Film Festival where it won the award for Best Actress. The film also received a Special Mention for the Prix Revelation at the Festival Rencontres de Toulouse and won the Jury Prize at the International Festival of Poitiers, France. The film went on to win Best Short Film at the Merida & Yucatan Film Festival, Best Actress at Shorts México and Best Short Film at the Icaro Film Festival. Rossana’s last short Film OMBLIGO DE AGUA (2018) premiered at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam (IFFR), won the jury award at the Morelia Film Festival and was part of the selection in Clermont Ferrand France. Rossana is currently producing a feature film from the United States BOMBERO FILM directed by Douglas Cushnie, and developing her sister’s debut DAUGHTER OF RAGE, a co-production between Nicaragua, México, Netherlands, France and Germany.
Nine-year-old María is left at a recycling factory in Nicaragua by her struggling mother, joining a workforce of other children. Torn between anger and hope, María resorts to her vivid imagination in order to come to terms with her motherʼs absence and make sense of a chaotic world.
