Jason is a Mexican-American Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan. He currently directs the Undocumented Migration Project, a long-term study of clandestine border crossing that combines ethnographic, archaeological, and forensic approaches. Recently he was awarded the prestigious 2016 Margaret Mead Award for his book The Land of Open Graves.
