It's not everyday you get to meet your hero. But for 2013 Tribeca Film Fellow® Kevin Fermoselle that's exactly what happened earlier this week at our Gala Benefit screening of Grudge Match.
The senior from Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens stood beside me as we waited at the chilly red carpet premiere of the film for the stars to appear. "Robert De Niro is my idol," he told me. Currently Fermoselle is starring and directing in the film, Brothers of Virtue, that has a boxing setting, so he was shaking with excitement to meet the Raging Bull (or maybe he was freezing, I couldn't tell).
But there were others he was star struck over as well. He walked up to legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer and shook his hand, he also walked up to De Niro's co-star in Grudge Match, Kevin Hart, and introduced himself. When Hart walked away, Fermoselle turned to me and said excitedly, "I can't wait to tell my brother I met him!"
I thought to myself, "Gosh, I don't think I would have had the guts to walk up to these people back when I was a teenager."
Then finally De Niro appeared. Well, I'll let the video take it from here.
Big kudos to the hard work of Zachary Caldwell and Harrison Crown on the making of the video.
