A Glimpse into #TFIatTFF 2015

After two whirlwind weeks, the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival has come to a close. While we at TFI begin to catch up on some much needed rest and reintegrate into society, let's take a moment to review some highlights of Tribeca Film Institute's involvement in this year's festival.

  • Democrats, a TFI-supported documentary by Camilla Nielsson, won Best Documentary at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Nielsson was awarded TFI’s 2011 Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund in 2011, which provides finishing funds to feature-length documentaries that highlight and humanize issues of social importance from around the world.

  • Over 780 one-on-one meetings were scheduled at TFI's Network Market, one-on-one industry meetings designed to allow filmmakers to network with film industry executives, potential investors, development executives, producers and agents. Additionally, over 125 industry/decision makers attended.

  • TFI had a record 11 supported projects in the Tribeca Film Festival.

  • Approximately 1,350 public school students attended screening events at Tribeca Film Festival, including Tribeca Teaches, Youth Screening Series and Our City, My Story.

  • Over 30 speakers at TFI interactive including a keynote from Lucy McRae and a live performance of Seven Digital Deadly Sins with Ophira Eisenberg. See our full recap of the day here.

  • In its second year, the Interactive Playground at Tribeca Film Festival included over 20 projects. Virtual Reality played a vital role with projects like "Confinement” and “One Dark Night” both appearing in the playground.

Social media also played a vital role in this year's festival, both in the Interactive talks and with followers on Twitter and Instagram sending us content via the hashtage #TFIatTFF. Below, via Storify, are some scenes from the festival. Keep watching this space for more exclusive photos, videos, and content from the fest.
