We always knew 2013 TAA grantee (T)error was going to make waves. Directors Lyric Cabral and David Felix Sutcliffe are the first filmmakers to ever have access to an active FBI informant, and the film unfolds over the course of an actual sting operation. Its reception hasn't disappointed. After breaking out at Sundance, had its New York premiere on April 16th at the Tribeca Film Festival, where Flavorwire listed it (among several other TFI grantees) as one of the best films at the fest, calling it "truly thoughtful" and "troubling."
Cabral and Sutcliffe aren't content to just let the flashy, attention-grabbing premise do the heavy lifting. The film also enlightens upon the morally murky world of government surveillance and counterterrosim tactics. They talked about this pertinent subject, and so much more, in an in-depth interview with Democracy Now's Amy Goodman last week.
