For a second year luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen and TFI teamed to present the IWC Filmmaker Award, which helps promote emerging filmmakers. Following our invitation of talented up-and-coming filmmakers to submit their scripts for the award, a jury that consisted of our own executive director Beth Janson, executive VP of the Tribeca Film Festival Paula Weinstein and last year's winner of the award Jeff Malmberg, announced the winner earlier this week at a posh event in NYC.
This year's IWC Filmmaker Award went to Jay Dockendorf's Naz + Maalik, which tells the story of two Muslim teens hustling the streets of Brooklyn on a hot summer day—when their secretive behavior unwittingly lands them into the crosshairs of the war on terror. Dockendorf was presented with a $25,000 film sponsorship prize.
Congratulations, Jay!
