TFI Sloan Student Programs

The Sloan Student Grand Jury Prize, created with the support of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, inspires the next generation of filmmakers to create realistic scripted films about science and technology. The exceptional screenplays chosen to receive the prize challenge existing stereotypes about scientists and deepen our understanding of the natural world through visual media. The prize aims to help aspiring and professional screenwriters integrate factual science and technology into their creative work.

Six leading film schools make up the Sloan symposium, with each school submitting one screenplay for consideration of the prize each year. The Sloan Student Discovery Award awards one screenwriter per year from six new film programs with a grant and industry mentorship.
