DIRECTOR
Terence Nance was born in Dallas, Texas in what was then referred to as the State-Thomas community. Nance learned personhood there. Nance’s first feature film, AN OVERSIMPLIFICATION OF HER BEAUTY, premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2013. In 2014, he was named a Guggenheim Fellow.

Chanelle Aponte Pearson is a Bronx-bred, Brooklyn-based filmmaker. In 2015, Chanelle was awarded the euphoria Calvin Klein Spotlight on Women Directors “Live the Dream” grant for the narrative series 195 Lewis, her directorial debut. The series screened to a sold-out audience at the renowned BAMcinématek in 2016 and had its world premiere at the 2017 International Film Festival at Rotterdam. Chanelle also produced the critically acclaimed film AN OVERSIMPLIFICATION OF HER BEAUTY, which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and won the 2012 Gotham Award for “Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You.” Chanelle co-manages MVMT, a Brooklyn-based film production company.
