A 17 year-old orphan is shipped off to her estranged grandmother and she plots her escape while navigating a foreign environment, new friendships and a hidden eating disorder.
SCREENWRITER, DIRECTOR, PRODUCER
Tchaiko grew up in seven countries while her father worked for UNICEF. She graduated from Columbia University then interned for Spike Lee and Mira Nair. While assisting directors George C. Wolfe and Tom Vaughan she directed several short form projects. Tchaiko was awarded the Gaea Sea Change Residency for artists working for social change. Her feature film SOLACE was a Semi-Finalist for Sundance Writers Lab 2012; a recipient of the Panavision New Filmmakers Program 2015; In 2016 the project participated in Tribeca All Access, the IFP Narrative Lab, the Creative Visions Creative Activist Program and Big Vision Empty Wallet diversity program. In 2017 it was a Women In Film grantee and a Film Independent Efilm/Company 3 grant winner. SOLACE premiered at the LA Film Festival 2018 winning Special Jury Mention Best Ensemble Cast. It is currently on the festival circuit and won New Orleans Film Festival Audience Award. Tchaiko was a 2017 School of Making Thinking Resident fellow where she created the VR film SHAPESHIFTERS. In between her independent projects she produces and directs commercials and branded content.
CINEMATORGRAPHER
Bruce Francis Cole is a cinematographer who lives in both NY and LA and works globally. Early in his childhood he was an exceptional student in the form of visual art. Raised in the inner-city, his art carried him to places beyond his immediate surroundings. After traveling around America working for non-profit social justice programs and inspired by the late Haskell Wexler, he decided to explore film as an art form. Eventually after studying cinematography at both UNCSA (David Gordon Green, Jeff Nichols) and The American Film Institute, he worked his way up from electrician to gaffer and eventually DP.

Jasmin Way is a film and television Editor from New York City. After studying film at Vassar College, Jasmin began her career as an Assistant and Junior Editor at Lorne Michaels' post-production company, Broadway Video. From there she moved on to work in documentary and reality television on acclaimed shows such as LA INK (TLC), THIS AMERICAN LIFE (Showtime), TRUE LIFE (MTV), WORLD OF JENKS (MTV), WARPED ROADIES (FUSE), and HOUSE HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL (HGTV).

In addition to SOLACE, Colin has edited on the Emmy-award winning anthology series AMERICAN CRIME, the John Ridley-helmed documentary LET IT FALL: LOS ANGELES 1982-1992, and was a co-editor on the Warner Brothers television pilot MURDER. Currently, he's editing on the sixth season of the CW science fiction series THE 100.
ACTOR, PRODUCER
Hope Olaidé Wilson is a multimedia storyteller, founder of Indigo Veil Media and a 2018 Made in NY Media Center Incubator Fellowship recipient. She's currently in post-production as writer, director and producer of OWLS & ECHOES, an anthology project selected for the 2018 IFP Screen Forward Labs.
Hope won the 2017 Jack Jones Literary Arts ‘Octavia Butler Fellowship’ and was a 2017 Finalist for the Stowe Story Labs/Tangerine Entertainment Screenwriting Fellowship.
Trained at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, her screen credits include the independent feature film, SOLACE (Tribeca Film Institute's All Access Program), THE AFFAIR (Showtime), THE PRICE (Samuel Goldwyn Films/2017 SXSW), THE FOSTERS (FreeForm), and THE LAST SHIP (TNT).
PRODUCER
A Los Angeles native, Maya Emelle graduated from the Art Institute of Hollywood with her BS in Digital Cinema and Video Production. She worked for Corporate Management Solutions, Inc. as the Commercial and New Media Production Coordinator while simultaneously freelance producing independent content. Although specializing in scripted commercial and new media content throughout the years, Maya has worked on various live televised productions such as the Latin Grammy’s, iHeart Award Shows and Concerts, and the Latin American Music Awards. As the Vice President of Development at Morgan’s Mark she has produced two independent features titled JINN (2017) and SOLACE (2017), Maya is dedicated to producing content that gives marginalized people a larger presence in mainstream media.
PRODUCER
Sophia is a graduate of the BFA Film Production program of Emerson College and currently resides in Los Angeles. As a student, she cultivated her skills and interest in the arts and communication as a White House Digital Strategy intern under the Obama Administration. Upon moving to Los Angeles, she was given the opportunity to study under Shane Hurlbut, A.S.C. and apply what she had learned in order to be an effective and passionate member of both camera and production departments. Influenced by her Washington D.C. roots, she continues to seek projects, either as a Producer or Cinematographer, that tackle socio-economic issues.

Sabine Hoffman, ACE, began her journey to becoming a film editor in Berlin, studying art, philosophy and film history. In the United States, she has edited independent feature films for over 15 years, including Rebecca Miller’s films PERSONAL VELOCITY (Sundance Grand Jury Award and Best Cinematography winner and also the winner of the John Cassavettes Award), THE BALLAD OF JACK AND ROSE (starring Daniel Day Lewis), and MAGGIE'S PLAN (Julianne Moore, Greta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke. She recently completed ELVIS AND NIXON (starring Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon, directed by Liza Johnson) and is currently editing Kyra Sedgwick's directorial debut STORY OF A GIRL.
