Jasmin Mara López

Director, Producer

Jasmin Mara López is a journalist, audio producer, and filmmaker based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Born in the U.S. with familial roots in México, her childhood was affected by issues experienced on both sides of the U.S.-México border. This instilled in her a strong passion for immigrant rights, youth empowerment, and social change. ​In 2007, Jasmin founded Project Luz, which taught Mexican youth to document stories from within their communities. She was then recruited by USC Annenberg’s Civic Engagement and Journalism Initiative to coordinate a program that trained immigrant youth in journalistic ethics and practice. In 2015, she received the Society of Professional Journalists’ Excellence in Journalism Award for her audio documentary Deadly Divide: Migrant Death on the Border​.​ Jasmin is currently working on SILENT BEAUTY while developing an installation with the voices of dozens of survivors to accompany the film. The installation was awarded the 2019 Artist Residency at Ragdale. She’s been invited to speak about SILENT BEAUTY and her experience with students at various institutions, including the Ragdale Foundation and Texas A&M University. She participated in the 2018 UnionDocs Summer Documentary Lab, and was awarded the 2017 New Orleans Film Society Emerging Voices Mentorship, 2017 Third Coast Radio Residency at Ragdale, 2018 Southern Documentary Fund Production Grant, 2019 Ragdale Artist Residency, 2019 TFI Network, 2019 Chicken & Egg Pictures (Egg)celerator Lab, 2019 Jacquie Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund via Black Public Media, and the 2019 Firelight Media Documentary Lab.

Bron Moyi

Bron Moyi is a first-generation American cinematographer and photographer. At 19, he began his career in the film industry in the art department under the mentorship of Andrew White. He has crewed on over 40 productions and is a proud member of the ICG Local 600. He has shot a variety of projects including music videos and commercials, narrative feature films, and narrative and documentary shorts that have screened at various film festivals around the country including UrbanWorld and The New Orleans Film Festival. In 2018, he received the 2018 Best Cinematography Award at the 29th Annual New Orleans Film Festival. Bron lives in New Orleans with his wife Camille, and is a proud participant/voice in the SILENT BEAUTY installation project.

Sarah Garrahan

Editor

Sarah Garrahan is a documentary producer and editor from San Antonio, Texas. She holds an MA in Creative Documentary from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and an MFA from Duke University in the Experimental and Documentary Arts. She is a co-producer and additional editor on the hybrid documentary ​The Infiltrators​ by Cristina Ibarra and Alex Rivera, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019 and was awarded both the Audience and Innovator Awards for the NEXT section. She is an editor on ​Building the American Dream​ by Chelsea Hernandez, which premiered at SXSW in 2019. In 2018, she worked as an Associate Producer on Ellen Spiro and PJ Raval’s short documentary ​Come & Take It​, which premiered at SXSW and went on to play at festivals around the world. She is a former Flaherty Fellow (2013) and Felsman Fellow (2015). She also works with the Sundance Documentary Fund, where she aids in the selection of films for their fund. .
