Told through a collection of seven Sundays in the summer of her eleventh year, Lua Dunn falls hard into adolescence as she navigates her first love with conflicting lessons from her street and her church.
Director, Screenwriter
Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Maggie Briggs is an award-winning screenwriter, director, and producer currently based in New York City where she recently received her MFA from Columbia University Film. Her most recent short film, TO SONNY, co-directed with Federico Spiazzi, had its World Premiere at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in February of 2020 and continues to tour the festival circuit. Her produced work has shown internationally at festivals including Toronto International Film Festival and Palm Springs International Short Film Festival.
She is currently in development on her first feature film project PRONE TO WANDER, which was selected as one of the top scripts coming through Columbia at the time and presented as a Jury Select at the Columbia University Film Festival. Her stories are often inspired by normalcy and the dangers of it.
Producer
Amanda Freedman is a Canadian producer residing in Los Angeles. She graduated with an MFA from the American Film Institute’s producing program, where she received the Jerry Bruckheimer Producing Scholarship. She also has an MA in Media Studies from The New School. Amanda has produced numerous shorts which have screened at prominent festivals including Talia Zucker’s CHILD, which played at BFI London, AFI Fest, and Torino Film Festival. She also produced Charlotte Benbeniste’s BYE BYE, BODY, which screened at Austin Film festival, Indie Memphis, Atlanta Film Festival and Aspen Shortsfest. She’s committed to making female-focused work that examines the morals and values of our generation.
