Las Marthas is a documentary about an extraordinary rite of passage in Laredo, Texas where Mexican-American debutantes are presented at a grand Colonial ball dressed as American revolutionaries – a border tradition that’s 114 years old.

Cristina Ibarra‘s latest documentary aired on PBS’ Independent Lens. The New York Times called it “a striking alternative portrait of border life.” Her previous film The Last Conquistador had a PBS broadcast on POV and her award-winning short, Dirty Laundry: A Homemade Telenovela, was also on PBS.
