There is a city in Southern California that is teeming with pregnant women from China. How to Have An American Baby is a kaleidoscopic voyage, told through multiple perspectives, into the booming shadow economy of Chinese birth tourism that has taken over the Chinese enclaves of Los Angeles County.
Leslie Tai
DIRECTOR, PRODUCER
Leslie is a Chinese-American filmmaker from San Francisco. Her award-winning shorts have premiered at Tribeca, MoMA, IDFA, and Visions du Réel. Leslie spent five years making films in the New Documentary Film Movement in China. She is a Fulbright Scholar and holds an M.F.A. in Documentary Film from Stanford University.
Jillian Schultz

Jillian is an independent curator/arts professional with over 15 years of experience in US-China cultural diplomacy. Jillian specializes in arts administration, exhibition curation, translation/editing, and educational programming. She has a B.A. from Tulane University and an M.A. from Columbia University. She is fluent in English and Mandarin.
