Together, they embark on a life-altering motorcycle road trip from Sudan to South Africa. Screenwriter, Director
Kaliya Warren is an award-winning writer and director, and a member of Brooklyn production company Illium Pictures. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, her short THE GROWN-UPS garnered several top awards at NYU. The film was nominated for a National Board of Review award, and was an official selection of HBO’s Urbanworld Film Festival. Her short REVELATION screened in IFC’s Short Attention Span Cinema Series. Kaliya directs commercial work for clients including Delta Air Lines, PepsiCo, and Paramount Pictures. She was the EPK DP for two upcoming features: THE LAST THING HE WANTED, directed by Dee Rees, and JUST MERCY starring Michael B. Jordan. Recently, Kaliya directed a documentary in Tanzania on maternal and reproductive health for Bloomberg Philanthropies. In filming a Proof-of-Concept for EXPATRIATES, Kaliya shot on location throughout South Africa and Mozambique. Kaliya aims to tell intimate, character-driven stories set amongst a backdrop of visual spectacle.
