Vee Bravo
Director
Vee is a New York based media activist, educator and filmmaker who has documented youth culture, hip hop and politics over the past two decades. During this time period he initiated a series of arts and entertainment programs for adolescent and adult inmates at Rikers Island, New York's largest detention center. From 2000-2009 he curated films and produced live music events that reached an excess of 10,000 inmates. In 2009 Bravo co-produced Estilo Hip Hop, a PBS broadcast documentary film that chronicled the rise of hip hop activism across Chile, Brazil, and Cuba. Bravo has also served as media educator and consultant for a variety of arts and filmmaking educational institutions including the Global Action Project, Urban Arts Partnership and the Maysles Institute where he served as Education Director from 2009-2011. At TFI he oversees a cross section of filmmaking programs that service over 18,000 public school students and teachers.
