Logline

Every Friday night, Rigo leaves his family in Brownsville, Texas and crosses the US-Mexico border to return to his hometown of Matamoros where he teaches forty men a choreographed routine. In an environment heavily impacted by drug trafficking, The Dance of the Ejido 20 of Matamoros is a platform where the performers can mourn and release their fears through sweat and physical pain.

Tatiana Graullera

Producer

Tatiana Graullera is based in Mexico City and specializes in the production of films. Graullera studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana. She participated in the documentary film workshop given by James Benning, framed in the International Contemporary Film Festival of Mexico City (FICCO).

Leonor Leonor Maldonado García

Director

Leonor is a Mexican choreographer and dancer. Her work consists of live pieces, texts and cultural platforms that question the politics of the body in relation to its context within the arts and the social realm. She is part of Colectivo AM, a platform for collaboration and choreographic research. Maldonado holds an MA in Narrative Practices applied to community work. The last three years she has been developing the documentary film AT A CORNER IN MEXICO.

Luis Montalvo

Cinematographer

Luis Montalvo was born in Wisconsin in 1983 and is now based in Mexico City. He graduated from Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) with a specialization in Cinematography. He has worked on multiple short films, documentaries, and commercials. He was both co-writer and DP of his first feature film, SOPLADORA DE HOJAS (Dir. Alejandro Iglesias, 2015). He was awarded with Best Cinematography at the DTLA Film Festival 2017 for his work on the documentary BOSQUE DE NIEBLA (Dir. Mónica Alvarez). His second feature film CRÍA PUERCOS (Dir. Ehécatl García) premiered in 2018.
