Maryam Keshavarz

In 2001, with a band of an all-girl crew and cast, Maryam directed her first experimental 16mm film, entitled Sanctuary. This surreal fantasy film about an Arab woman in post-9/11 America traveled to several international festivals and landed Maryam the Steve Tisch fellowship to attend NYU’s graduate film program.
Sean Shodahl
Producer
Sean Shodahl works in New York City as program director for the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers. He creates and implements programs to aid the production and financing for independent films and video.
Suzi Yoonessi
Producer
Suzi Yoonessi is an independent producer based in New York. While studying at Columbia University, Suzi began her collaboration with fellow Iranian-American, Maryam Keshavarz, while both were first year film students and looking to pool their resources. Suzi was assistant producer to Gina Kwon for the Sundance Institute NHK Award winner The Motel, and has also served as producer for Miguel Arteta’s short film Are You the Favorite Person of Anybody?, starring John C. Reilly. The short film screened in the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, on the Sundance Channel, and was theatrically released at the IFC Center in New York and distributed by McSweeney’s for a compilation DVD.
