Fran’s life in New York City as a successful genderqueer model and influencer is upturned when their father gets into a serious car accident. Returning home for the first time in years, Fran must reckon with the people they left behind in order to be who they are now -- including an unrequited high school love.
Screenwriter, Director
An award-winning filmmaker, Mary was born in the Philippines and raised in the SF Bay Area. She received her MFA from NYU Tisch School of the arts for Writing and Directing, where she was the recipient of a prestigious Tisch Graduate Fellowship for Cinematography. In her last year at school, she produced Fish Bones - a feature film which premiered at Slamdance 2018. She is the co-creator of Water Melts, a Tribeca Film Institute and Google Daydream supported VR rom-com about people who will lose their loved ones. Her latest short film, Fran This Summer, has screened in over 20 festivals including the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. She is currently a Directing Fellow at Film Independent's Project Involve. With all her work, she pursues distinct and transformative stories full of bullish heart and levity.
Producer
Cecilia R. Mejia is a first-generation Filipino-American born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She has worked in development for non-profit organizations, including NGOs at the United Nations. She has a master’s degree in Public Administration and Affairs and is a graduate of the Columbia Business School’s Emerging Nonprofit Leaders Program. She’s worked with several grassroots organizations focusing on underrepresented communities, which led to her working in film. Cecilia has produced a number of short films focusing on critical social impact issues. She’s the lead producer of the upcoming Sony-acquired feature film YELLOW ROSE, a social impact producer of the award-winning doc CALL HER GANDA (TIFF 2018), and Co-Producer for LINGUA FRANCA (Tribeca All Access 2019). Cecilia is combining her love of film and social impact work with under-resourced youth through her non-profit organization Art of Me as the Creative Director. She was recently featured in Forbes Magazine for her work.
Co-Producer
Karishma Dev Dube is an Indian filmmaker based in New York. She was introduced to film while working as a production assistant on several documentaries and independent features in Mumbai, including TED fellow Shalini Kantayya’s documentary CATCHING THE SUN. A recipient of the Dean’s fellowship, Karishma is currently a thesis MFA candidate at NYU’s Film Program. Her most recent work is DEVI (GODDESS), an award-winning short film that has been featured on BBC world and played in over 40 film festivals around the world including BFI London Film Festival, LA Film Festival, Outfest LA and Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Alan Wu is a film editor and director based in Brooklyn, NY whose work has spanned multiple awards and festivals across the world. His most recent editorial works include Alexander Rockwell's feature SWEET THING and Mamadou Dia's BAAMUUM NAFI.
