Zuri Obi is a Haitian-American filmmaker based in New Orleans. In 2018, she won the Juried and Audience awards for Best Experimental Film at Blackstar Film Festival for producing and co-creating Fucked Like A Star, a short documentary. Her work, which centers on women’s lives and the diasporic experience, has screened at several notable festivals and online platforms. Zuri also teaches filmmaking through COOL Cooperative, a non-profit organization that provides New Orleans youth with academic instruction, mentorship and hands-on training in the film industry.
