About

Cetywa Powell spent her formative years in exotic locales around the world including Zambia, Kenya, Sweden, and Hawaii. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in chemistry and spent a year at London’s International Film School. Subsequently, she made two short films Waiting Room and Only Firecrackers as well as the independent feature Chronicle of a Madman. Waiting Room screened on Australian and Japanese TV and had a distribution deal with MediaTrip.com from 1999-2001 and then later with Blackchair Productions, which screened the film in various cities worldwide. Her Only Firecrackers script was a finalist for the 2002 Roy W. Dean Grant and screened at the Anthology Film Archives as well as the 2003 Anchorage International Film Festival. Powell is the Editor in Chief of the online literary magazine Underground Voices and her writing has been published online at Pindeldyboz, Thundersandwich, and The People’s Poet.
